Reading the route before the fan

Then we count what the air has to get through: every turn, every change of material, every joint taped rather than sealed. A run that doglegs around a truss and crosses the plan to reach a gable end can cost more draw than the blower ever had to give.
So a weak hood here is measured at the filter face before anyone prices a motor. If the fan is doing its work and the path is losing it, a stronger ventilator on the same duct only makes the kitchen louder. We write down what the run measured and where it would have to change.
